If you clicked on a link from your library's site: You are seeing this error because we could not detect that you came from your library's web site when you tried to enter Ask a Librarian. Usually, one of two things can cause this error:

  1. You may have some security software enabled on your computer (Norton Internet Security is a popular example). If this is the case, you should try to disable your security software then return to your library's site and click on the Ask a Librarian link again. If you don't see this error page, you'll know that the security software was the problem.

    For help configuring your security software so that you do not have to disable it when using Ask a Librarian, please contact the software vendor's technical support department and ask them for help "configuring your security software to allow the tutor.com domain to detect referring URL information from your web browser."


  2. If you don't have any security software installed or if you've disabled your security software, you may be seeing this error page because you are behind a proxy server that is not allowing us to detect that you came from your library's web site. In this case, you should contact the technical support department of your ISP (Internet Service Provider) and ask them for help "configuring your web browser to pass referring URL information to web servers."
